Rugby World Cup 2007

The 2007 Rugby World Cup is the sixth Rugby World Cup, a quadrennial international rugby union world championship inaugurated in 1987. Twenty nations are competing for the Webb Ellis Cup in the tournament hosted by France from 7 September to 20 October. France won the hosting rights in 2003, beating a bid from England. The competition comprises 48 matches over 44 days. Forty-two matches are being played in ten cities throughout France, as well as four in Cardiff, Wales and two in Edinburgh, Scotland.
The eight quarter-finalists from
2003 were granted automatic qualification, while 12 other nations gained entry through the regional qualifying competitions that began in 2004 - of them, Portugal is the only World Cup debutant. The top three nations from each pool at the end of the pool stage will qualify automatically for the 2011 World Cup.
The competition opened on the
7 September at the Stade de France in St-Denis, which will also be the venue of the final match on the 20 October.
In my opinion Los Pumas will be fighting for the the first place. In your coments I want you to write in which place you thing Argentina will finish in the competition.

Animals in my country.

Nowadays as I live in a poor and undeveloped country, lot of animals like dogs or cats are abandoned on the streets in deplorable conditions: suffering because they are sick, hungry and dirty. But it is also true that lots of people love animals and they take care of them as if they were persons.
On the streets we can see horses pulling carts and also their owners do not feed them in the appropriate way and treat them cruelly, for example by hitting them. There are plenty of stray dogs and cats that are sick and eat rubbish and they are also a danger for us because they can transmit illnesses.
Many people love animals because they are a great company. So they take care of them everyday: they take them to the veterinarian regularly, give them the vaccines they need and feed them with the appropriate food for them to be healthy. Last week I watched a commercial on TV of a famous woman that instead of having children, had two dogs. They has their own room, bathroom, special clothes for every social occasion and they also got marries. The marriage consisted of a ceremony and a big party with hundred of guests. There is also a woman that lives with fourteen dogs and ten cats inside her house!!!
I am not a fan of pets, I had a dog since I was two years old and it died last year. I loved that dog, it was unique for me and anyone is going to be like that. Now I have an other dog but I don’t have a closed relationship with it, it is nice and very smart but I will never love a dog as my first one. I hate cats, I get nervous with them because I don’t trust in them and I believe that they betray they owners. I had a little rabbit once when I was four years old and I was fascinated with it, I fed and clean him and I could stay hours playing with it but one day I hug it so hard that it stop breathing and die so I was very upset and disappointed so I never got an other one. Well you can see that I have bad luck with animals so I am not a fan oh them but I would never treat them in a bad way!
I think that it s a good idea to have a pet but the owner has to take care of it, always. They are a great company for kids or for old people. My grandma's best friend was deaf and she had a dog that when the bell or the phone rung he went to her and carried her to it so, it made her life had sense and helped her a lot!…. But animals are not humans so their roles have to be respected, they have to live outside the house surrounded by nature not trapped inside it!.

Brave new world! From charlie s blog!

We are reading BRAVE NEW WORLD and this is one of process of Bokanovsky's Process, where people are creat out of mother. In first place, they separate the eggs in Alphas, Betas, Gammas, Deltas and Epsilon. They are put in test-tubes and in a incubators. After that they bottle the eggs and in te Social Predestination Room, the lower cast receive less oxigine than de higher ones. That's why Alphas and Betas are the developing ones because their brain receive huge amount of oxigine.

"Heal The World.."

I hear this song since I'm a child. It was written and sang by michael jackson, and it talks about the world we are living, and the way we live. War, corruption, death are everywere, and little by little, we are getting acustomed to them, and many other bad things that are not good for us at all. Many people have tried, as the song name says it, to heal the world: We know about Agnes Bojaxiu (Madre Teresa de Calcuta), Diana Frances Spencer or most known as Lady Di, and many other people all arawnd the world, that, the way they could, or they thought it would be the best way, and we can see that they choose the best way: Love.

This song was written in 1991. During this period of time, the URSS had recently dissapear. A big period of "endless" war had finlay stopped, And from then on, the world was in a way "hurt" by the cold war, and all kind of conflicts.

The song chorus sais:

Heal the world
make it a better place
for you and for me
and the entire human race
there are people dying
if you care enought
for the living
make a better place
for you and for me

As to make a connection with the books we've read, those "realities" in the books, the way people live and the world behaves, are all an horror. There is no love in people, no body wants to make anyone truly happy. Some controls others lifes, it's all a mess, and probably if we don't try at least to help others, to change our reality, we will finaly finish up controled by others, and will provably live a terrible life as the books represents. In a way, those books are trying to advertise us (people) not to let the world finish that way.

The Video clip has been seen all round the world and has called attention of every person.

HUNGER STRIKES

Fasting - Dheli Dharma

University of California - Berkeley

Agustín: your song deals with deep issues related to human suffering an protest. We could all start thinking about several situations in which humans have sacrified themselves for a cause.
Look into the reasons why PEOPLE (including well-known characters in history, either local or international) have used this method to achieve their goals - Think about Gandhi, for instance.
What about YOU? Do you think it's a valid resource to protest? Would you prefer using another method to complain? What issues would lead you to such extreme measures? Think about it.

Hunger Strike

Here I found an other song the artist is Pearl Jam,the song is in tribute for all hunger strike victims who fight for their rights.

Artist(Band):Pearl Jam

Hunger Strike

I don't mind
Stealing Bread
From the mouths of decadence...

But I can't feed on the powerless
When my cup's already overfilled
But it's on the table,
The fire's cooking
And they're farming babies,
and the slaves are all working...
Blood is on the table,
the mouths are chokin'...

I'm goin' hungry...

I don't mind
Stealing Bread
From the mouths of decadence...

But I can't feed on the powerless
When my cup's already overfilled
But it's on the table,
The fire's cooking
And they're starving babies,
And the slaves are all working...
And it's on the table,
The mouths are choking...

My favourite song: THE SCIENTIST

Come up to meet you, Tell you I’m sorry, You don’t know how lovely you are I had to find you, Tell you I need you, Tell you I set you apart Tell me your secrets, And ask me your questions, let’s go back to the start Running in circles, Coming our tails, Heads on the science apart Nobody said it was easy It’s such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be this hard take me back to the start I was just guessing, At numbers and figures, Pulling the puzzles apart Questions of science, Science and progress, Do not speak as loud as my heart Tell me you love me, Come back to haunt me, Oh when I rush to the start Running in circles, Chasing our tails, Coming back as we are Nobody said it was easy It’s such a shame for us to part Nobody said it was easy No one ever said it would be so hard I’m going back to the start

This is one of my favourite songs which is from coldplay. When I hear this song I imagine a man who has apparted from him the woman he loves because he was confused. But then he misses her and starts appreciating her more. He is telling her that he needs her, that he has set her apart with stupid reasons and now he wants her back. He misses her secrets and questions but most of all he misses when their relationship was perfect. But it was so perfect to be real so they started questioning everything and got confused, they have lost what they have been constructing that was so important for them so now they are in an uncertain situation loosing time and suffering. He thought that it would be easy and people have warned him that love has difficulties but no one told him that he could suffer like that. He feels frustrated and empty without her so he pretends her to come back and say that she loves him but things are not so easy. She is confused too and has been suffering a lot so she is not sure if she wants to have a relationship with him again going throw the risks of suffering more because things can get worse. He says that they are running in circles, without a solution or exit. When they try to solve the problem they get to the same place with difficulties and confusions so they are trapped. Imagine a world like the one in “brave new wolrd” where this feelings are not involved… how boring!, for me it is very important to experience intense sensations. I think that in a situation like this, people have to take the risk because if not, they will ask theirselves for ever, what would happen if they have tried again. It is better to fail trying new things, being sincere and acting following our feelings that staying in the same miserable position all our life.

History of the birthday party!

The earliest birthday parties were held because people believed evil spirits were particuarly attracted to people on their birthdays.
At first it was only kings who were recognized as important enough to have a birthday celebration. To protect them from harm, friends and family would to come be with the birthday person and bring good thoughts and wishes.
Giving gifts brought even more good cheer to ward off the evil spirits. As time went by, children became included in birthday celebrations. The tradition of children's birthday parties first started in Germany, Kinderfeste.
The largest private birthday party to ever happen was in 1970 for Colonel Harlan Sanders' 89th birthday. The event was attended by over 35,000 people.

Here I post a reaction to the book Brave new World, which i taked from internet and adappted to my self.

There are so many disturbing aspects of this book. Mother is a word that causes people to blush since there are no mothers anymore. Love is disgusting and unfathomable yet sex is encouraged even as children during "erotic play" time. Contraceptives are carried around on a belt worn by women. Relationships do not exist beyond sex. People are discouraged from ever being alone (after all, one may have time to think). And if one ever gets unhappy, all you do is take a soma, a hallucinogen that makes everything o.k. God does not exist.God has become nothing but a myth that society mocks and laugh at. God has become replaced with the term "Ford". I must say that Huxley had excellent insight into what the invention of an automobile could lead to. The book is filled with "Oh Ford!", "The year of our Ford", and "his Fordship." I can't help but think of the first commandment and the story from the bible of the golden calf. "You shall not worship false idols." Huxley has given us the extreme of worshipping false idols and shows societies tendency to replace God with material possessions. The soul of a human has been replaced with chemicals, "groupthink", genetic engineering, and false happiness. What we are left with is an empty shell; a robot that looks like a human. Sex exists to make people happy, not to reproduce. If reproduction occurs, there are whole buildings dedicated to abortion. Motherhood is not welcomed in this brave new world. And what a brave world it is to make so many assumptions. These are some of my initial thoughts on the novel. I can't do it justice with a simple blog post. Huxley has created a masterpiece that was relevant from the day it was published and will always remain relevant. It is a telling example of what the loss of spirituality can do and of the necessity of so many emotions that we perceive as negative.

Comon partners, comen in my wonderful post!jaja

Daily Prompts for Inspiration

These are some prompts about everyday matters to post when you feel you have run out of inspiration.

Choose ONE and write at least 200 words about it.

- Finish this sentence: “If only…”
- Look around the room you're in. What three things make you happy? Why?
- If you could walk across a bridge (personal, emotional, spiritual - not literal) from where you are now, where would you end up?

- Write about chocolate.
- If you could put some event/memory of your life away in a box and forget about it, what would it be? Why?
- Write about bread.
- How do you imagine you will deal with your own children?

- Write about praying.
- How do you imagine yourself in 10 years’ time?
- Write about birthday celebrations.
- How willl you deal with aging parents? OR How well will you deal with aging parents?

Look those children...didn't they remember you to the children of the story "Brave new world"??..no perents..no family..no life..all equals physically and spiritually. They didn't have any idea from where they are and from where they come, they are looking each other waiting for some help..someone to tell where to go or what to do..I think it's a very interesting pick to coment about it and in pur country it's becoming a daily and serious problem.

IMAGINE

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
And no Hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today
Imagine there's no country
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace
You may say I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
Maybe someday you will join us
And the world will be as one
Imagine no posessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
Or Brotherhood of Man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
And maybe someday you will join us
And the world will be as one
You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
Maybe someday you will join us
And the world will be as one...

Mother Teresa, 10 th anniversary of her dead

Ten days ago, the 5 th of September, people of all the world have met to remember the 10th anniversary of the dead of the Mother Teresa. With this short biography I want to make us remember her and think about all the poor people she had dedicated her life´s work .

Mother Teresa was born Agnes Gonxha Bojaxhio (her real name) on the 27th of August 1910 in Skopje, capital of Macedonia. Gonxha (flower bud) grew up in wealthy Catholic Albanian family. She was brought up very religiously by her parents. Her father died unexpectedly when she was ten; she dedicated even more of her time to her belief following this event. At the age of 12 she decided that she wanted to lead a life as a nun. She followed her desire to become a nun passionately and was accepted into the Loreto Order at the age of 18.

This order and its members were particularly committed to education in Bengal and Indian. Her first post was not in India but in Ireland at the Central office of the Loreto Order. She left Skopje on the 28th of September 1928 for Ireland. After only two months she was allowed to follow her dream and she joined the Loreto Order in Bengal. She took her first vow in Calcutta. She spent the following 17 years in St. Mary's School in Calcutta. Working initially as a teacher, she was later promoted to governor.

It was on one of her numerous journeys through Calcutta in 1946 that she felt God's calling to help the poor. She was granted permission to leave the Order two years later. Teresa left the Order but was allowed to keep her status as a nun Teresa made the decision to live among the poorest of the poor in the slums of Calcutta. She became known as the "Saint of the Gutters".
In 1949 she was given Indian nationality and founded the "Missionaries of Charity" order in 1950. The members of the order had to take a vow of celibacy and pledge an oath of allegiance to the poor. The order was later recognized by the Pope and placed under his control. Teresa and her order focused mainly on the dieing, the ill and on orphans. She was especially interested in looking after lepers. More than 3,000 nuns and 500 monks in over 100 countries belong to this order today. She received many awards for her selfless work, the most important of which was the Nobel Peace Prize in 1979.

Many of Theresa's workers lacked sufficient medical training. Mother Teresa replied to this by saying: "It is not success, but the dedication to one's faith that is important". Receiving worldwide tribute for her work, she was also criticized for her conservative views. She viewed the abortion policies of many countries, for example, as the largest threat to world peace. Shortly before the Irish were due to vote on whether divorce should be legalized, she urged the Irish to vote no.
Mother Teresa died on 5th of September 1997. She was buried in Calcutta before the gaze of the world's public. She was beatify on 19th of October 2003 by the Pope John Paul II and nowadays they are trying to probe her miracles to finally lead in her canonization.

In my opinion this kind of women are models of life and we all must try to be, day by day, like her. I meant not in the dimensions she have done but in daily life, with the ones we have nearer. If we all do only a little for our neighbour, the society will be better.

Here I found a very good video, it is about the katrina disaster and has a song written by Chris Cornell in tribute to the victims , the song talks about Bush's neglince towards what happened in New Orleans, the name of the song is Wide awake here you have the lyric:
You can look a hurricane right in the eye
Twelve-hundred people dead
All left to die, follow the leaders
Were in an eye for an eye
We'd all be blind
Deaf or murdered, this I'm sure
In this uncertain time
So come pull the sheet over my eyes
So I can sleep tonight
Despite what I've seen today
I find you guilty of a crime
Of sleeping at a time
When you should have been wide awake
Down on the road the world is floating by
The poor and undefended left behind
While you're somewhere trading lives for oil
As if the whole world were blind
So come pull the sheet over my eyes
So I can sleep tonight
Despite what I've seen today
I find you guilty of a crime
Of sleeping at a time
When you should have been wide awake

School Time

I´ve been reading your posts and comments, they´re are all deep and thoughtful with a personal touch that makes them a pleasure to read. Great!!! The point of this blog is that we all share and discuss some ideas, feelings and doubts we have as we move along this road that is called life.

LAUGHTER... TEARS... FRIENDSHIP... GROWTH

Now, I would like to engage you in a kind of TRIP back to your school experience, from the moment you started kinder till now, when you have to make a decision of huge importance for the rest of your lives. I suggest you carry out some of these tasks to share and remember:

A photo album of your years at school
A movie/video of some unforgettable trip, concert, etc.
A funny anecdote with your classmates, teachers
An autobiography as a student at Saint Patrick's School
A dream you still want to come true with your friends/classmates

... or any other idea that comes to your mind.

now I´d like to share with you a well-known Graduation song in the U.S.
Then tell me what you think about it. Do you find feelings in common? Would you suggest a different song (from Argentina or another culture)? Do you know a poem or reflection about this event? Well, you are all welcome to get inspired and express yourselves!!

Best Time Of Our Lives
lyrics
Artist - Green Day
Album - International Superhits!

Another turning point
A fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist
Directs you where to go
So make the best of this test
And don't ask why
It's not a question
But a lesson learned in time
It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life
So take the photographs
And still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf of good health
And good time
Tattoos of memories
And dead skin on trial
For what it's worth
It was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable
But in the end is right
I hope you had the time of your life

People Passing by

[Daybreak:]
A September sun emerges through clouds, chasing across the sky.
Thoughts are evoked behind detached eyes but people are just passing by:
With smiles for protection.
Unable to see
behind the creature that he seems to be.
Once he was a child with burning desires
with hopes and dreams of what was to come.
So he's lost some faith but still there are fires
deep inside that he must drench to numb.
If we could try to share some of his wounds just for a while.
But we're all just people passing by![daniel magdic][Midday:]
He's searching through crowds for one that is gone.
Rejecting the facts one more day.
Talking too loud to silence the glow. Coldness becoming his way.
Empathy can't reach through all that blame!
Smiles now forgotten, locked in their frames!
Now he's counting time in beggings and bottles
fading away beneath old news.
So he lost a war: "will I be dead very long?"
He can still hear his voice through the coldness!
If we could try to ease some of his pain just for a while.
But we're all just people passing by!
[Part second: memorials (instrumental)][Part last: nightfall]
Once he was strong, and filled with visions.
With life ahead he set his aims.
Then things went wrong.
Now his ambitions have turned to smiles conserved in frames.
Still could be strong could be a prophet!
He would teach truth to every man!
He'd see the light through every shadow, but Entropia denies he can!
He's sitting numb while dusk is falling. Alone he whispers his "goodnight"
Turning away, when sleep is calling, from all the people passing by...
Walk with me
And change the world we see
We’ll cease to be
Just people passing by
Home is where we all get by

Pain of Salvation is a Swedish progressive metal band kind of unknown here in Argentina or al least in Tucuman.Their sound is characterized by powerful, accentuated guitar work, broad vocal range, abrupt switching between heavy and calm passages, intense syncopation, and polyrhythmic experimentation. But actually what I found really interesting about this band are the topics that they kind of debate in their albums.
Some examples of the topics addressed in the band's albums are: war and its effect on family and humanity, environmental issues (e.g., nuclear power), the forming of the individual, and the nature of God, humankind, and existence.
This song called People Passing By is from their first studio album called Entropia. It is a concept album concerning a family in a fictional society that is torn apart by a war. The title is a portmanteau of Entropy (from thermodynamics, the measure of disorder present in a system), and Utopia (the ideal society, we read it on Brave New World).
I think what they are trying to show with this song is the luck of interest and sympathy that people have according to someone else’s problems. We keep on “passing by” without looking around us and not realizing that there is so much to do to help others and change the way we are living… and more important , that we are actually able to do it if we try it. We keep on caring about ourselves thinking that our own good is what really matters and constantly complaining about some insignificant problem and we don’t even notice , or worst care, that there other thousand r people facing problems we don’t even imagine that exists. If we keep on like this nothing is ever going to change.
I don’t know, is just a though.Hope you read it and tell me your opinion

goodbye england rose-The song that made Elton John's for the Princess Diana.

Goodbye England's rose, may you ever grow in our hearts. You were the grace that placed itselfwhere lives were torn apart. You called out to our country, and you whispered to those in pain. Now you belong to heaven, and the stars spell out your name. And it seems to me you lived your lifelike a candle in the wind:never fading with the sunsetwhen the rain set in.And your footsteps will always fall here, along England's greenest hills;your candle's burned out long beforeyour legend ever will.Loveliness we've lost;these empty days without your smile. This torch we'll always carryfor our nation's golden child. And even though we try,the truth brings us to tears;all our words cannot expressthe joy you brought us through the years.Goodbye England's rose, from a country lost without your soul, who'll miss the wings of your compassionmore than you'll ever know.

Utopia

We were talking last class about utopias. Is like, it is a word invented by people who think the world is a mess, and that it is impossible to fix it. Don't you think the world is perfect? Have you ever take a minute to think about life?, about the world?, how it works? the nature? the galaxy?
Have you studied a little bit the way your body works? I think that if you had ever think about that you wouldn't say the world is not perfect. Almost, if you read a bit about evolution, you'll realized the way the nature evolves and it is each time more perfect.
That something is perfect, doesn't mean it has no problems, and it is EVERYTHING ALRIGHT. To be perfect, is to work, in a way that it doesn't dissapear, meaning, it keeps on working, and in the way it can be, to evolve.
for example, we are all perfect. You will think "I'm not perfect becouse, i have this and that" but you are wrong, becouse, as human beings, we are all perfect. Our nature is to think and act the way we think, to have a concious, and that is the way we are. You think you are not perfect?, I think you are wrong.
The same way I think with the world we live. It works in a perfect way. And if there is something wrong, is becouse God, who is not perfect becouse he is the perfection itself, wanted it to be like that.
An utopia, is where we live, enjoy it!
